The World Summit on Information Society (WSIS)
hosted an e-Skills Capacity Building Symposium in Tunis on 16 November 2005.
This high-level event has been organised by the eSCC, in cooperation with the
European Commission. The symposium stressed the key importance of ICT skills of
users for bridging the digital divide. This aspect is often overlooked in the
debate on capacity-building, focusing exclusively on ICT infrastructure. The
symposium therefore explored how e-skills capacity-building can be enhanced by
industry cooperating with governments and civil society in the field of
education.
